Hope that things are going well with you today guys! It is that time of year when many of us may be attempting a garden to help alleviate some food expenses. However, there is always that one thing that also comes with gardens and the joys of growing plants, the weeds! Weeds are those undesirable plants that come into our established domain and start to suck up water, choke out, or bring in other destructive bugs to our wanted plants. Continue reading →
There are times when your kids will start asking questions. They turn into rapid fire machines it would seem and are able to ask questions faster than you can answer. They will start humming or making noises that will somehow find just the right wavelength to become the most irritating noise in the world.
The call of you the husbands is to love your wife! But it takes a special kind of love. It takes a Jesus type of love not just the run of the mill and ordinary love. It takes a love that goes deep, a type of love that can withstand the abuse of what others say.
“When I get the time son…” or “Let’s go guys…I don’t have a lot of time…” or “I got a time schedule going here, let’s move it…” Are these the phrases that your kids hear from you? Dad are the kids constantly fighting for your time, are you are fighting for your time and your wife is fighting for your time? We fight and struggle to get it all done and only leave a few seconds of time for God. Let’s talk about time.
Dads, I have a rather poignant question for you today. “What are you teaching your kids?” Now your first thought may be “Whoa, Steve, I support my wife in homeschooling anyway I can. But when it comes to teaching, that is all her!” This is what I would call the typical answer from most men when it comes to homeschooling. But when you do that, what are you teaching? *BAMM* Gotcha! Now don’t get mad and quit reading, work with me here.
Men, do you know your power? I am talking about influential power, not physical. We as adults have a great ability to influence those around us, especially our kids!
I have kids that at times can get on my last nerve when I ask them to do something around the house. I will stop and look at my oldest son and clearly state the objective that I need accomplished. I will then turn and go back to my task that I am working on. Continue reading →
Question for you men : “What is more important to you? The Blessing or the Blessor? Many times in life we ask for blessings to be bestowed up on us with our life, kids, family, home life, jobs and all sorts of things. When we are given that blessing, do we stop and remember to thank the blessor? What would happen to you if the blessor took back the blessing? Or even better, what if the blessor asked you to sacrifice or destroy the blessing? Continue reading →
Hey dads, what do you do to “Get Set”? Well I guess it would depend on what exactly you were going to do, would it not? I mean if you were getting ready to go snow ski, I don’t think you would get the sun tan lotion out and put on a swim suit and head out to the pool. But where I live in Georgia, the weather changes so quickly, you might be able to do just that! We have talked about getting on your mark, now, let’s get set! Continue reading →

Merry Christmas guys! It is that time of year when “..visions of sugar plums danced in their head.” Now, when I was a kid growing up, I did not have visions of sugar plums dancing. I mean, I don’t even know what a sugar plum is! But to the writer of the poem “The Night Before Christmas“, this was his vision. So, when it comes to vision, what is your vision for Christmas? Here is a topic that is thrown around a lot and misused many times. Yet that is what I want you guys to think about today. Are you a leading husband so you can have a submitting wife? It comes down to the question of are you doing what God has directed you to do, so your wife can follow the lead of her husband and do what she should do?
Hey dads out there! This will wrap up the four part series of Being The Best Father You Can Be. If you have just found this post, let’s back up and start here. The future is an unknown thing to us. We can try to shape it but it is ultimately in the hands of God, not ourselves. The future is also something that no man can stop. Despite everything that he may try, no man or woman, can do anything to stop the future. You may be able to change it with your actions, but you can not stop it or make it into what you want it to be.
What is your mesh size? Are you a 250 micron or a 100 micron? Are you a sand or ball? Do you have a UV light installed or not? Because dad, what I am asking you is how are you filtering what enters your home?
Home ~ a place of safety, security and comfort. A place where love abides, laughter flow, and barriers can be let down.
A place where you and your family should be able to discuss the events of life openly and freely. Continue reading →
What Are You Passing? Now there is a question to ask on the day after Halloween! But what I am asking goes deeper. What are you passing to your kids? What are you passing to your grandkids?
Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) 19 “For I have chosen him so that he will command his children and his house after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. This is how the Lord will fulfill to Abraham what He promised him.”
The Purpose of Fatherhood
In the verse above, God said that I have chosen him (Abraham). Fatherhood is a calling, not just a job. It is a calling because he said I have chosen Abraham so that he will command his children. It is a calling the comes from the highest of all employers. It has been established by God to achieve His divine purposes. This calling is called in the scripture a covenant.

Hey guys, do you remember being asked this big question as you were growing up? What do you want to be? As kids many of us wanted to be like our dad. I know I did. I wanted to be the fireman that he was, I wanted to be the farmer he was, and I wanted to be the man he was. Yet when we stop and look at ourselves now, did we become what we wanted to be?
