Dad, when you survey your surroundings within your domain, are you a king or commoner? The difference between the two is vast yet so very short at the same time. To be a king one must have subjects who are loyal to him, listen and willing obey his laws, and will fight for him at a moments notice. Yet the commoner is just that, common, unknown, and has no title. So dad, which are you? Continue reading →
Question for you men : “What is more important to you? The Blessing or the Blessor? Many times in life we ask for blessings to be bestowed up on us with our life, kids, family, home life, jobs and all sorts of things. When we are given that blessing, do we stop and remember to thank the blessor? What would happen to you if the blessor took back the blessing? Or even better, what if the blessor asked you to sacrifice or destroy the blessing? Continue reading →
Hey dads, what do you do to “Get Set”? Well I guess it would depend on what exactly you were going to do, would it not? I mean if you were getting ready to go snow ski, I don’t think you would get the sun tan lotion out and put on a swim suit and head out to the pool. But where I live in Georgia, the weather changes so quickly, you might be able to do just that! We have talked about getting on your mark, now, let’s get set! Continue reading →
In a few months, I will be hearing those words in my head. I will be running in “The Color Run” in Atlanta with some friends and getting hit with corn starch from head to toe! Last year was my first time running a race on purpose. On a regular note, if I am running, the best thing that you can do is to run as well. If I run that means something is chasing me! But when 9:00 comes on that morning in April, I will hear in my head, “On Your Mark”… Continue reading →
Men, when you squeeze an orange, what comes out? If you are like my wife you start asking the questions of “Is there a hole in the orange?…Is it sliced in half?…Are you using one hand or two hands?” I think there is a special place for people who ask so many question. However, the answer to the question is what? Orange juice. Rather straight forward answer. So, for question number two. What comes out of you when you get squeezed? Continue reading →
This month is only half way over and I am wondering where the time has gone? I think that today is the first day that I have had that I am sitting down and resting for a bit. Life goes by so fast and at times it feels like I am sitting on the bridge of the USS Enterprise at warp 9.8! One of my kids will be celebrating his 10th birthday this month. I sit back and look at the young man that he is becoming and I wonder, where did the time go? Continue reading →
Guys I am asking you a poignant question today, “Are you equipped?” I asked a question to my iPhone today and the answer that came back was “I am sorry Steve, I am not equipped to answer that question.” Which brings up a great question to us as dads, “Are we equipped to answer the questions of our kids?” Continue reading →
In just a few hours it will be a new year, but will there be a new you? Many people take this time of year to make resolutions that will change their life in one way or another. We will resolve to lose weight (Trim Healthy Mama if your thinking of that), to read more (the Bible is an excellent one) or maybe even be a better person. I will say that these, and more, are things that I am wanting to do this new year. However there is one thing that I think is even more important that all of these. Continue reading →
Here is a topic that is thrown around a lot and misused many times. Yet that is what I want you guys to think about today. Are you a leading husband so you can have a submitting wife? It comes down to the question of are you doing what God has directed you to do, so your wife can follow the lead of her husband and do what she should do?
Alright guys, here is one for the keeping!! My trim healthy mama made this heavenly dinner last night called Low Carb Chicken Bacon Chowder that was out of this world. I mean, how can this not be good? Chicken and bacon in a thick creamy soup? This was outstanding in my book and I am passing along the recipe to you, so you can prepare this for the wife! Now what could even make this easier? Plan to Eat could! Continue reading →
Yeah, Christmas is almost here and the thought of what to get the kids for Christmas is at the front of the thought process. Which brings up todays question, “Are you giving technology for Christmas?”
Now, I will preempt this post by saying that I am a tech-junkie, even though others know me as Camp Master Steve, or the uncle from the Nutcracker, or the Lt. Dan look alike, and Jesus. (Yeah, I live a rather diverse life here!) I have had a video game next to me since I was 9 years old. Continue reading →
Hey dads out there! Here is a question for you, “Who is dating your daughter?” You may be thinking that your daughter is too young to be dating, but she is not! My daughter is five and she is dating now. Before you think that I have totally lost it, keep reading and you will understand why my daughter is dating.
My daughter is a special little girl to me. My wife went and picked her up at the hospital when she was 18 hours old and we adopted her within the next year on the Friday before Mothers Day. Over the past five years, I have watched with amazement and fascination at this child growing up before me. She has an outlook on the world that is unlike any other I know. She believes that everyone needs a hug, that she is a ballerina, and she can do karate better than me! Continue reading →
Hey dads out there! This will wrap up the four part series of Being The Best Father You Can Be. If you have just found this post, let’s back up and start here. The future is an unknown thing to us. We can try to shape it but it is ultimately in the hands of God, not ourselves. The future is also something that no man can stop. Despite everything that he may try, no man or woman, can do anything to stop the future. You may be able to change it with your actions, but you can not stop it or make it into what you want it to be.
