Teach Them Diligently DC Trek…Day 2.0

There have been few things in life that really impress me. But I must admit that the Teach Them Diligently Convention this year in Washington, DC has done just that! From the beautiful surroundings of the Gaylord Hotel and Resort, the perfect weather, the outstanding speakers and the awesome children’s program, I will say that I am in awe.

The Gaylord Hotel and Resort is simply an amazing location for any large or small event that you can imagine. The rooms are any size from small to ginormous.

The interior of this place is a landscape architects dream or possible nightmare. The actual structure makes the civil engineer part of me marvel at the openness of the design. Everything from the pool area, musical water fountain, glass elevators, and the multiple escalators have kept the kids enthralled since we arrived.

Speaking of the kids being enthralled, my thanks go out to Chief Agent Matt Reid and his wife, Chief Detective Anna Niarchos Reid. The two people have taken the lead in the children’s program called “Mission Incredible”. From what I am being told by the kids, it is just that, incredible. Being a children’s pastor I know some of the trials that having a large group event can be when it comes to organization, coordination, and not to mention dealing with parents. From what I have seen the Chief Agent and Chief Detective have done great homework and investigations to make it happen here.

Lastly, I must mention the great speakers that I have heard so far like Mark Hamby, Scott Gilmore, and Dr. Steve Scheibner.

These men of God have discussed many issues of homeschooling parents and especially dads. Dr. Scheibner discussed some of his points The 9 Essential Practices of Character-Healthy Men. This of course could not all fit within the class in one hour. But he discussed that as men, we must earn the right to be heard. He also mentioned that we, as men, have four traits that I want to do a series on later.

  1. Protector
  2. Provider
  3. Initiate
  4. Lover

Well that will wrap up this post for day 2.0 at the Teach Them Diligently Convention in DC. Tonight, David Allen from Conversaving.com and myself will be doing a live video blog from the convention center and giving you the chance to ask questions about the homeschooling scene here and abroad. So, if you get a chance tonight at 10:30 we will be live on Youtube.com

Till next time…
