A Groovy Kind of Love! ~ Happy Easter

This is the Easter weekend for the year 2014.  A time that Jesus was beaten, abused and crucified many years ago on a hill just outside of Jerusalem.  Yet, many people ask why?  Why did He suffer so much and was so willing to go through with it all?  But my question for you, husbands, have you suffered today for your wife and kids?

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her
26 to make her holy, cleansing her with the washing of water by the word.
27 He did this to present the church to Himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or anything like that, but holy and blameless.
(Ephesians 5:25-27 HCSB)

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her…” – Ephesians 5:27

The call of you the husbands is to love your wife!  But it takes a special kind of love.  It takes a Jesus type of love not just the run of the mill and ordinary love.  It takes a love that goes deep, a type of love that can withstand the abuse of what others say.  It takes the type of love that can push on when you feel like giving up.  It takes the type of love that will endure pain, both mental and physical.  It takes a love that others may not understand, but they are thankful that it exist.  It takes a love that when friends mock you, you still love.  It takes a love that produces long prayers and sleepless nights.  It takes a love that will wash away all the negative things to see the purity that lies beneath it.  It takes a love that will and that can only come from God above.  It takes a love that will pass all understanding.  It takes a love that Christ showed us on Calvary.  It takes the love that is written about in Ephesians 5:25-27.

So guys, what are you to do?  How are you to do all of this and still press on?  The Lord spoke to Joshua and told him :

7 Above all, be strong and very courageous…
(Joshua 1:7 HCSB)

And now you are thinking, “So what am I supposed to do?”  Start with this guys.  This weekend, take your wife and wash her feet.

1 Before the Passover Festival, Jesus knew that His hour had come to depart from this world to the Father. Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

Have you washed your wives feet recently?

Washed Today?

2 Now by the time of supper, the Devil had already put it into the heart of Judas, Simon Iscariot’s son, to betray Him.
3 Jesus knew that the Father had given everything into His hands, that He had come from God, and that He was going back to God.
4 So He got up from supper, laid aside His robe, took a towel, and tied it around Himself.
5 Next, He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples’ feet and to dry them with the towel tied around Him

(John 13:1-5 HCSB)

Christ got down and washed the feet of those He loved.  He even washed the feet of Judas, the one who would betray him, because He loved him.

Guys, there are days that the ones closest to you will hurt you, turn their back on you and even betray you.  This is when the example of Christ’s love for the church, the love that we should be showing to our wife, should shine the greatest.  Christ gave his absolute everything for the church, his bridegroom.  Instead of hiding eggs and hiding your love for your wife this Easter, openly show her the love of Christ and wash her feet and watch the resurrection power of love in your marriage.

Till next time…
