Who Is Dating Your Daughter?

Hey dads out there! Here is a question for you, “Who is dating your daughter?” You may be thinking that your daughter is too young to be dating, but she is not! My daughter is five and she is dating now. Before you think that I have totally lost it, keep reading and you will understand why my daughter is dating.

My daughter is a special little girl to me. My wife went and picked her up at the hospital when she was 18 hours old and we adopted her within the next year on the Friday before Mothers Day. Over the past five years, I have watched with amazement and fascination at this child growing up before me. She has an outlook on the world that is unlike any other I know. She believes that everyone needs a hug, that she is a ballerina, and she can do karate better than me!

By now you are wondering why I am letting the young little lady date if I care so much about her. The reason is that I am her date. I take my daughter out on dates, dinners, and events. I do these things so when the dreaded day does come when she wants to go out with someone she will know if they are treating her right. I want my daughter to know what it is like to be treated like a lady. I want her growing up and being able to just be herself and not worry about having to change for another person so they will love her. I want her to know what it is like to have doors opened for her, to be swept off her feet, and to feel love from a guy. Love that is real and not dependent on what she gives in return.

You see dads, so many girls out there do not have that dad in their life that will take the time to show them love. They search for it where ever they can find it and when they do, they latch onto it at any cost. I see dads that sit back and wonder what went wrong with their little girl, why did they become so wild and push their upbringing so far away. Yet the truth of the matter is that most dads don’t take the time and love on their little girls the way they should and show them love while they are growing up. Dads are quick to throw the football, play catch, or go hunting with the boys. Yet when it comes to nail painting, daddy and daughter dates, and even enduring The Nutcracker, many dads run in fear.

Men, hide no longer from your daughter! Embrace her and all the drama (well, most of it) that comes along with her. Take her on a date night to a fancy restaurant, or to a movie, take her hunting, or even to a ballet performance. Show your daughter what love is from a man so when she starts getting calls from some young buck looking to take her away one day, she will know what to look for because the old buck (that’s you) showed her how it should be.

Now with all that said, if any boys come calling on my girl now, that will give me an excellent chance to demonstrate my Go-Ju Rye purple belt skills!

Till next time ~

I’m just a Husband Of A HomeSchooling Mom,
Steve

P.S. ~ Dads keep a watch out at your local Chick-Fil-A restaurants and you will see a Daddy & Daughter Date night advertisement. I can highly recommend this to you!
